Power in Diversity is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Handling Information
Power in Diversity also collects personal information through its membership process (including name, email address, gender identity where provided, and eligibility verification data). This information is used solely for membership verification and administration. Any identification documents provided for verification will be deleted once verification is complete unless retention is legally required. We do not retain members’ identification documents beyond what is necessary for this purpose.

Power in Diversity is a registered incorporated society, supporting women and gender-diverse people in the trades. We are based in Auckland, New Zealand. Our website address is www.powerindiversity.org.nz.
2. What information we collect
We currently only collect personal information when you choose to apply for membership with us. This may include your name, email address, gender identity, city of residence, and information about your occupation to show that you are working in the Trades (i.e. if you’re a Registered Electrician, Plumbing Apprentice etc).
We do not collect any information like birthdate, address or phone number.
3. Why we collect this information
We collect this information so we can respond to your enquiries, communicate official correspondence about activities in Power in Diversity, and provide information about upcoming initiatives. We only collect ID for membership verification, and is deleted after confirmation. We do not collect personal information for marketing purposes.
4. How we store and protect your information
Your information is only accessed by the committee directly involved in running Power in Diversity. It is not shared, unless required for legitimate operational purposes or by law.
Membership information is stored securely using PID-controlled systems. Access is restricted to authorised officers only. Copies of identification are not retained longer than necessary, and only used during membership verification. Identification documents are deleted once verification is complete.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Your information may only be shared if it is required by law, or it is necessary to operate our website or communications tools (for example, website hosting or email services are used to send you communication emails).

6. How long we keep your information
We only keep information if it is necessary in the operation of the club, e.g emails are used as the primary channel of official communication for our members. Any form of ID is deleted after membership verification.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and official communication will be sent to our members, and parties involved.
