Origin Story

Our organisation started from an informal, and chaotic, instagram chat group. For years, our members were putting up ‘support group’ posters at the local wholesalers, and added every woman we met to our group.

Finally in December 2025, Power In Diversity became incorporated. We are the women who built it.

Supporting Others has always been our goal.

How We’re going

Power in Diversity is still in its early stages, and we’re excited to be building the community from the ground up.

We currently have around 20 members, including of Apprentices, Tradeswomen, and Pre-Trade students. We are continuing to grow as more people join the community. We’ve held multiple events over 2025, supported by several local businesses, and are looking to create more opportunities for members to connect both online and in person.

Power in Diversity is run by members, for members.

Our Focus

Power in Diversity focuses on supporting women and gender-diverse people working in the trades, particularly those working on the tools.

We want to create a space where members can talk openly about their experiences, learn from each other, feel safe, and build meaningful connections across the industry.

What We’re Building

Power in Diversity is building a community that brings people together both online and in person. This includes:

  • Community events and meet ups
  • A private online community for members
  • Opportunities to connect with other tradies
  • A space to share experiences, advice, and support.
  • Opportunities for mentorship, especially for those getting started in the industry.

Our Community

Power in Diversity is currently based in Auckland and focused on building a strong local community.

As the organisation grows, we hope to expand and support more people across the industry.
